A friendly, affordable, and diverse neighborhood tucked between the Loyola and Notre Dame campuses and York Road.

Small-town charm in Baltimore City

A VILLAGE IN NORTH BALTIMORE

We are a small-town neighborhood ringed by Loyola and Notre Dame universities, the Homeland, Winston-Govans, and Kernewood neighborhoods, and the York Road business corridor. We are served by the frequent CityLink Red bus line, and we are on the CollegeTown Network bike route. Loyola University sponsors the weekly Govans Farmer’s Market right in our neighborhood every summer, and we’re also a short drive or bike ride to the year-round Waverly Market. Sherwood Gardens and the children’s playground on Linkwood Road are both within walking distance. We're in the Roland Park school district and a short distance from Belvedere Square, the Senator Theater, and new York Road shops and restaurants like Hex Superette.

“I have lived here for almost 36 years and…I am so glad we made the decision those many years ago to become homeowners and raise our family here. This is a good place!.”

Neighborhood History

Radnor-Winston is one of a number of early suburban communities developed along the York Road street car line in the early decades of the 20th century, built on land that had previously been mostly country homes. Since 2003, Radnor-Winston is on the National Register of Historic Places for our frame Arts and Crafts bungalows and four-squares built in the 1920s. Duplexes and apartments built after World War II round out our community’s diverse housing stock.

The Radnor-Winston Improvement Association (RWIA) represents our neighborhood on local issues of concern and organizes annual social events like our early-year Pancake Breakfast and our fall Progressive Porch Party. We are active members of the York Road Partnership, a coalition of neighborhoods, organizations, and institutions working to broaden opportunity and prosperity along our corridor.

Community Garden

In the fall of 2009, a group of Radnor Winston neighbors teamed up to build our community garden. Located behind the Popeyes restaurant on land donated by Loyola University of Maryland you can now find 27 raised beds growing a wide variety of vegetables from early spring to late fall.
